Ft. Steilacoom Park Log Enclosure

Ft. Steilacoom Park Log Enclosure

Born in 1359 in a forest near Mt. Rainier National Park, this tree grew to be 12 feet, 9 inches in diameter before it was cut down in 1945.  For nearly 60 years, a section of this tree sat inside the former Lakewood Library displaying its 586 rings.  During demolition of the library, the log section was removed by crane and transferred over to Ft. Steilacoom Park to a new enclosure designed by our office where accessible for year-round public viewing.
